In short, Saint Seiya: Soldier’s Soul falls short. Its energies are smooth, and the representations are pure and faithful to the anime style, but the war arenas are repetitive and unimaginative. There is a superabundance of characters to play, with little to distinguish between the play styles of each of them. It is fun to play, and there are some attractive elements of the game, such as Cosmo, and the Battle Modes are plenty of fun, but it doesn’t come close to standing out from other games in the warfare genre. In Battle of Gold mode, you are confronted with a zodiac board. For each sign of the zodiac, you must fight three further actions against competitors linked to that sign. If you achieve high scores in these actions, you may move on to more formidable enemies. The Gold Saints – whom you fight, and unlock to play – hark from the Seiya anime, Soul of Gold, and yet again are designed to call out to existing Seiya fans.

This special game will feature characters from all previous games of the series, including 12 special symbols from the Anime sequence of the same name. Colorful, amazing Fighting Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul, developed by DIMPS and Bandai Namco Entertainment, is based on the writer manga. Noticeable changes transpired in the fight against the enemy. It has been improved by adding more air combos, increasing the speed of the game, and providing all the qualities with a new projectile called “Photon”, which varies in its effect depending on the hero. Another improvement involves the formation of the main character – various ensembles of the same character will no longer be treated as separate models for the game; Instead, the chosen hero can be equipped before battles. There is a bar at the bottom of the screen which fills slowly throughout the fight – this is your Cosmo level. Cosmo is an inner power, emanated, it seems, from the galaxy itself, which can be tapped into to accomplish special abilities. Although it builds gradually, saving the left stimulus makes your personality focus and fast charge your Cosmo. You have precious little time to do so, and find yourself grabbing quick points to refresh while your opponent is floored. Your abilities – special episodes, or a quick dash movement – take large amounts of Cosmo, so recharging is a huge advantage. It’s a nice touch, adding another element to a typical fight – you are not awarded for button-mashing, as there aren’t many combos to be had with just two attack controllers, so correct use of your Cosmo power forces you to plan your moves a little more.
